Last time

Before we start: last time, in Set notation and two-set Venn diagrams, you learned these points. Here they are again on one card. Keep them in mind, because today builds on them.

One number, three costumes

A half, zero point five, and fifty percent are the same number in three costumes. Cambridge expects you to change between them quickly and exactly. And then there is the strange case: a third is zero point three three three, and it never stops.

Fraction to decimal

A fraction is a division. To change it to a decimal, divide the numerator by the denominator. Seven eighths is seven divided by eight. That is zero point eight seven five. This decimal stops, so it is called a terminating decimal.
