Last time

Before we start: last time, in Digital currency and blockchain, you learned these points. Here they are again on one card. Keep them in mind, because today builds on them.

Under attack

Every day, criminals try to break into accounts, steal data and knock websites offline. Cyber security is about protecting systems, networks and data from attack, damage and unauthorised access. To defend, you must first know the attacks. There are eight to learn, and malware has several kinds.

Brute-force attack

In a brute-force attack, a hacker uses trial and error to find a password. Software tries every possible combination, starting with common passwords. It keeps going until the correct password is found. The aim is to gain unauthorised access, then steal, change or delete data.
